Your Members-Only Deep Dive: Wool and the Science of Sleep

It all started a few years ago while I was Googling ways to turn my house into one giant sheep. I stumbled upon a wool bedding company called Woolroom.

I'd never thought of wool pillows before, but there they were, plump and inviting, available in the United States, and on sale. I loved that they were using British wool for their pillows—wool from breeds whose loftiness and compression resistance make them ideal companions for things like pillows and comforters.

Unlike polyester fiberfill and down, wool is inhospitable to allergens such as dust mites or fungal spores. It's just too good at eliminating the moist, warm environment they need in order to thrive. I had myself a winner.

I clicked, the pillow arrived, I set my head down on it, and my world has never been the same.
